How do I go about applying for membership?
To apply for membership to The Carnegie Abbey Club, a current Club member must sponsor you. If you are new to the area, a representative from the membership staff will introduce you to someone on the Membership Committee or to a Club member.
When will I be informed of the final status of my application?
Promptly after the Membership Committee reaches its decision, a member of the committee will contact you.
How frequently does the Membership Committee meet?
Typically, once a month.
How soon after being accepted can a member commence playing golf?
Upon payment of the full initiation refundable deposit and membership dues, a member may enjoy immediate use of the facilities.
What is the policy regarding guests at the Club?
Members shall be entitled to sponsor accompanied guests to use the Club's golf course and other facilities upon payment of such fees as the Club may determine from time to time; provided, however, that no individual shall use the Club's golf course as the guest of a member more than four times in one year, subject to space availability. Members shall be responsible for the actions and conduct of their guests at all times while such guests are using the Club's facilities. The Club shall bill all guest greens fees and any other charges incurred by guests to the member's account.
Does the Club allow reciprocal memberships?
The Club may, at its sole discretion, enter into limited reciprocal use privileges and arrangements with other private clubs of high standards, as the Club determines to be appropriate and beneficial to all membership categories. In such an event, this use shall be without compromise to the members' enjoyment of the Club and always subject to availability.
Is it possible to transfer a membership?
Members may transfer memberships only to the Club by having the Club redeem such membership. A member shall not sell, assign or transfer his or her membership except in accordance with this membership plan.
What is a Charter Member?
As we build a solid foundation of attractive membership-which will enhance the Club's spirit of camaraderie and ultimately establish Carnegie Abbey as one of the most enjoyable and distinctive private clubs in North America-it is the Club's intention to recognize those members that have made a significant contribution in the introduction of new members.
Charter Member status is achieved by introducing at least three new members to the Club and is further recognized by the introduction of each additional member. In addition to having their names prominently displayed on a mahogany board in the Clubhouse, Charter Members enjoy certain discreet priority privileges within the Club.
What takes place upon resignation or termination of membership?
A member may resign membership by giving written notice to the Club. Resignation shall be effective as of the date such membership is redeemed by the Club as provided in the membership plan. A resigned or terminated member (other than an expelled member) shall continue to be entitled to all privileges of membership and shall pay all membership dues, assessments and other charges until the consummation of the redemption of such membership by the Club, including the deposit refund.
Do I have to be a member of the Club to purchase one of the Carnegie Abbey accommodations?
Yes. The Golf Lodge and Clubhouse residences are for purchase and use exclusively by members and their guests.
Do children have to be supervised at the Club?
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied onsite by an adult family member. However, when involved in one of our children's program activities, the Club will provide full supervision.
Is there plenty for children to do at the Club?
There is a wide range of activities at the Club for children to be involved in, improving their skills while having fun. The goal is to balance developing the skills of the younger members while ensuring that the atmosphere for adult members and their guests is pleasurable.
Rules regarding pets
Please be advised that The Carnegie Abbey Club hereby agrees to the following terms regarding pets of guests utilizing rental accommodations.
You will be permitted to keep a dog in the unit upon the following terms*:
 |
The permission to keep the dog is conditioned upon no reasonable complaints being received from members or their guests relating to the dog. |
 |
The dog shall be leashed at all times while on Club premises and kept in a pet crate when owners are not physically occupying the residence. |
 |
The dog may not go on the elevator and is not allowed in any public areas of the Golf House except for the entrance and stairs and corridor leading to the unit. You may take the dog anywhere else on the Club premises, as defined by the Club rules and regulations, except for the golf course. |

Any excrement shall be properly disposed of immediately and if it occurs in the entrance, stairs, corridor, or unit, a charge will be applied to pay for professional cleaning of the spot. Any such damages must be reported to the Manager on Duty immediately. Failure to do so may lead to permanent damages, with the expense of replacement resting solely upon the pet owner. |
 |
The guest acknowledges that the Carnegie Abbey Club and any agents acting on the Club's behalf will be held harmless in any and all aspects relating to the well being of the dog. The guest further acknowledges that the condition of the apartment and its contents while in residence are the responsibility of the pet owner. |
