Designed by one of the great names in modern golf course architecture, Donald Steel, the course boasts traditional Scottish-style revetted sod bunkers, few in number but strategically placed for maximum impact on play. Not a long course by modern standards, it is nonetheless a challenging one that encourages an accurate, thoughtful approach.

Steel's ingenious course layout takes full advantage of its seaside location, providing dramatic and ever-changing views of Narragansett Bay. Married to the landscape, the course is as scenic as it is challenging, beautifully landscaped with mature woodlands, wetlands, and colonial stone walls. Great care has been taken to ensure the natural beauty and longevity of this idyllic location. Expertly staffed by a PGA Director of Golf, a PGA Head Golf Professional with a team of assistants, a Pro Shop manager, and of course a Caddie Master, the golfing facilities include a full-service multi-tee practice range and a dedicated short-game area, plus two additional driving ranges and a pair of putting greens.

Our open aired Porches offer panoramic views of The Bay, with its screened in porch atop an elegant wood floor. The Porches may be combined for a larger, more spacious event.
How do I go about booking a golf outing?

Are there specific days that are set aside for outings?
Mondays and Tuesdays are set aside for outings.

How far in advance should I try to book an outing?
Always try and book by December 31st of the previous year to guarantee the date of your choice. After December 31st, outings are booked upon availability.

What is the cost of an outing?
$185/person plus food and beverage. Breakdown is on Fee Structure page.

Is there a minimum number of players required for an outing? Can smaller groups book an outing?
A minimum of 72 players is required for an outing. Smaller groups may book with the permission of the Director of Golf and the Golf Committee. Smaller groups are booked based on availability and must utilize a shotgun start or tee times.

Are caddies required for each group in the outing?
A forecaddie is recommended in each group. The rate is $15/player plus gratuity.

Donald Steele designed the Golf Course which was opened in 2001.

Do you offer tournament scoring and competitions?
Yes. Carnegie Abbey offers a full-service golf shop with a professional staff to manage your event.
