Children at the Club

Carnegie Abbey hosts a number of family-oriented activities throughout the year. From our annual Parent/Child Fishing Tournament each Father's Day to our Junior Golf and Tennis Tournaments and Equestrian Programs, the Club strives to include every member of the family in the pleasures of the sporting life.

Programs for children

Camp Carnegie - The Club provides an ten-week summer course that builds our young members' skills in a number of activities, including tennis, golf, archery, squash, equestrian, boating, and marine study on Prudence Island with Save The Bay. The Club also offers the opportunity to partake in arts and crafts including pottery, painting, Performing Arts, leadership and etiquette classes. Supervised swimming and rainy day activities are also provided.

The Crew Adventure Teen Camp - Our teenage members will enjoy this option, as participants enjoy instruction and practice in the different sports around the Club and adventure activities around the island. Surfing, hiking, sailing and Teen Socials fill their summer with great memories and lasting friendships.

Children's Activity Room - The Club has designed a room in the Clubhouse specifically for our younger members (and for the benefit of our older ones, too!). The Children's Game Room boasts the most recent gaming activities, pool table, foos-ball and an indoor jungle gym for the littlest members to enjoy.

Carnegie Golf - Teaching professionals at Carnegie Abbey's practice facility help ensure that children develop their game from the correct basics. Stance, grip, swing, and technique are taught, coupled with instruction on etiquette and course management. A relaxed and friendly summer program of golf schools incorporating mini-competitions and clinics are available for all levels and abilities.

Equestrian - A full complement of trained and gentle horses is provided to give children the confidence to become competent equestrians. The care of the horse and stable management are also taught.

Tennis - Beginner, intermediate and advanced tennis instruction is available in group or private sessions. Junior participants in the program will be invited to play in scheduled tennis tournaments throughout the summer.

Day Camps

Leave the children to play golf or tennis, to ride or to enjoy a variety of other supervised activities-and have fun! Younger children of members may also enjoy visiting the Club's farm animals, including highland cows, goats, and guinea hens.
